Quotations

1884
The section of country which was surveyed extends from Moose Jaw and the Touchwood Hills to Calgary, and from the third base line north to the ninth correction line.
1952
Along each base line, points are established at six mile intervals and from them lines are surveyed 12 miles due north and 12 miles due south. These lines . . . are true meridians and converge towards the north; consequently, they are not directly in line with corresponding offsets from the next base line. Thus all north-south lines have a jog every 24 miles. The line along which these jogs occur, lying midway between the base lines, is known as the "correction line."
1962
He knew he was almost sober because it was not even necessary to walk back to the road for him to ascertain that he had missed the jog of a correction line.
